[from Latin pilosus < pilus, a hair] related forms: pilous, (pahy-less), adj. pilosity, (pahy-lohs-ity), noun, hairiness. Deer antlers are pilose. There is a plant called by some "Lambs ear" which has a velvety pilosity and oh yes, does anyone know of "Buttonweed?" click here: http://www.surratt.org/herbs/herbgraphics/lambsear.gif to see a photo of "Lambs-ear."
