A Marine's email has been posted on Drudge's site. The Marine is obviously in favor of what we are doing so his view is obviously bias but the email is touching nonetheless.

Warning: some vulgarity is used by this Marine in his email which is why I am not copying and pasting it here.

Good E-mail. The guy is there and we're not and neither are most of the writers writing about what it's like over there. I'll take his word before I believe a politician hungry for influence and votes who goes over there for one or two days.

The way I see it most of the people involved in reporting and writing news would like to see the U.S. fail over there. They seldom send back reports of any good coming from our being over there. How's that for bias?

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

How is a marine going to get a wide-perspective unbiased view?

Why give any weight to the assessment of someone who is so clearly deeply emotionally involved in the situation?

Well, I spoke with a member of our church today that just came back from Iraq. He had some pretty bad experiences there and said he wouldn't want to base his opinion of the war on the hardship he had to go through while in it. I thought that was a pretty objective way of looking at it.

Certainly ideologues are deeply emotionally involved in it and they haven't even been to Iraq. Some go as far as calling the President a fool and incompetent liar and excusing Democrats that voted for the war. I still haven't figured out how such an incompetent liar got both houses of Congress and over 30 allies to go along with him. I only wish I was that incompetent on my best day.

A man chopped off his penis with a knife in front of horrified diners at a busy restaurant.

Police were called to Zizzi, in The Strand, London, at 9pm on Sunday after reports of a man in possession of a knife.

It seems Drudge switched the url. I don't think it was in good taste to copy the new story about the wacko with a knife.

Here is a link to the original story of this thread.

One person's account is valuable and important in itself. This is this marine's experience of the situation. It can't be used to single-handedly 'correct' all the other information that we have about the situation in Iraq, and I don't think Shane was using it that way. If it's seen as what it is and used appropriately, it's a good source of information.

Truth is important
