Beryl Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 "Well, I am glad that is only a symbol of the past! Back then before the cross there was a pretty good chance that I may not have had long to live!" Quote "Grace is God doing for us, in us and through us that which He requires of us but which is impossible for us to do in or for ourselves." nuff sed Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 "Well, I am glad that is only a symbol of the past! Back then before the cross there was a pretty good chance that I may not have had long to live!" Did I miss something here? I don't get where that quote fits the picture. Maybe an explanation might help. Quote
D. Allan Posted August 22, 2007 Author Posted August 22, 2007 I think that Beryls caption refers to the hypothetical situation ensuing if 'the cross' had never been, christianity had never spread, and instead jewianity, to coin a neologism, had spread across europe instead. the poor bovine may well have been pictured upon an altar, instead of before a cross. the obvious caption is of course - holy cow! and, i might add, if only we could be so holy as that bovine who calmly bears her burdens trusting all to work out according to the the plans of a higher greater will. so much for moralizing. Beryl Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Yes, you read my thought exactly. Beryl Quote "Grace is God doing for us, in us and through us that which He requires of us but which is impossible for us to do in or for ourselves." But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor. 12:9.
Beryl Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I didn't notice, before, that there is another cow in the picture! Perhaps that alters the whole meaning! Quote "Grace is God doing for us, in us and through us that which He requires of us but which is impossible for us to do in or for ourselves." But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor. 12:9.
