Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted May 17, 2007 Administrators Posted May 17, 2007 Great question, as usual!!! Some good reading on this would also be the book of Hosea. God told Hosea to take himself an adulterous wife, to illustrate the relationship between Himself and Israel Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
there buster Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I'll take that on in my area. Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell

olger Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 It is evident that God divorced Israel as his Covenant People. Jesus' selection of 12-disciples was the formulation of a new Israel in whom the loving requirements of obedience would be met. This new Israel is made of of children who are united to Abraham by faith, both Gentile & Jewish alike. olger Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

LifeHiscost Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 So how come all twelve of the disciples were Jewish? "....salvation is of the Jews." John 4:22 KJV "What, then, [is] the superiority of the Jew? or what the profit of the circumcision? much in every way; for first, indeed, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God; for what, if certain were faithless? shall their faithlessness the faithfulness of god make useless?" Romans 3:1-3 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Gal 3"26-29 KJV Regards!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Planey Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 I believe that the "formulation of a new Israel" occurred after the stoning of Steven, when the Jewish nation finally formally rejected the gospel. I don't think it began with the selection of the twelve disciples. Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
olger Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Thanks Graeme. Simple question.. Why do you suppose Jesus chose twelve? Why not ten? Or seven? The selection of twelve would pave the foundation of the New Jerusalem along with the twelve tribes. "The root supports you." The stoning of Steven does indeed mark the termination of the 490-years probation alloted to National Israel. I agree. og Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
