bevin Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070604/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/guantanamo_trials "GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba - A military judge dismissed charges Monday against a Canadian who was 15 when he was captured in Afghanistan, a surprise ruling that came minutes into the arraignment of the man classified as an "enemy combatant" at Guantanamo Bay. " "The dismissal of the charges does not mean he will be freed from Guantanamo. Only three of the roughly 380 men held at this isolated military base on suspicion of links to the Taliban and al-Qaida have been charged under the new military tribunal system." Quote
Dr. Shane Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I am not too concerned. I have faith in the American justice system. It is far from perfect but certainly among the best on the planet. If a judge is dismissing the charges I doubt the guy poses a threat to national security. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
bevin Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 "I doubt the guy poses a threat to national security" Apparently the USA Govt disagrees with you. His detention continues. /Bevin Quote
Dr. Shane Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I believe the judge that dismissed the charges is part of the US government. In order to properly understand current events one must first grasp the basic civics of American government. In this case the executive branch is doing its job and the judicial branch is doing its job. It is a system of checks and balances. God bless the U.S.A. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
