Woody Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Do we REALLY need immigrants working in this country. When I call a large company and they put on some immigrant from India or somewhere .... their accent is SO heavy that I can't understand them. So ... I ask if they can repeat or slow down and enunciate their words. What happens .... instead of passing me onto someone who can speak proper English ... they hang up on me. Then ... I have to go through a terrible maze of time and energy to get a second chance at someone who can hopefully speak English. HELP ..... Do we REALLY need immigrants who don't speak the language? Dottie Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Those people who speak to you with an Indian accent are not immigrants...they are IN India!! A lot of telemarketers and customer service calls have been "outsourced" to India. And yes, I get annoyed, too. They can't answer a question about an account because they don't have the necessary information. Try getting some info about something that requires specific answers. It ain't gonna happen. Quote
Woody Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 I thought she was in the US but I could be wrong. And yes ... it is frustrating especially since it is THEIR error that resulted in me spending lots of time to correct. In the end they expected ME to correct THEIR error by doing favors for THEM!!! Dr. Shane Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Quote: Do we REALLY need immigrants working in this country? The short answer is YES. Of course we do. Unemployment is low and the economy is growing. If we run out of workers our economy will have to slow down. Even after outsourcing many jobs, we still don't have enough workers.
