Amelia Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Ananova: 14 June, 2007 Town bans saggy trousers A US town is to make it a crime to wear low hung trousers that reveal underwear. Delcambre town council, in Louisiana, has unanimously passed the new law, reports the BBC. And Mayor Carol Broussard says he will gladly rubber stamp it. "If you expose your private parts, you'll get a fine," he said. Offenders will face a £250 fine and also risk up to six months in jail. Town attorney Ted Ayo said the law adds underwear to the list of what must not be revealed under state indecent exposure laws. "This is a new ordinance that deals specifically with sagging pants," Mr Ayo said. "It's about showing off your underwear in public." Some residents say the new law targets blacks, as low-slung trousers are fashionable among hip hop fans. But Mr Broussard denied it was racially motivated: "White people wear sagging pants, too," he said. D. Allan Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 .to this observer it would be less obscene if they just forgot about the baggy pants and worn underwear only. Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Dottie Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 From what I understand, the baggy pants are what is worn in prison. They are baggy because of few choices of size, and worn low to indicate availability to other inmates for their pleasure. My niece came home from college with a "tramp stamp" on her back, and her roommate had one, too. Brother didn't think anything of it. He's not a Christian, and has low expectations of his children morally. Quote
