Reasons to LOVE America...

Freedom . . . . . to travel anywhere in the US easily.

Freedom . . . . . to live anywhere you want.

Freedom . . . . . to work or not work.

Freedom . . . . . to worship anywhere.

Freedom . . . . . to express different opinions about our government.

Freedom . . . . . to VOTE. . . which many of us do not do.

I love that I am a first generation American. I am thankful that my father's family had the opportunity to come to this country.

It's still the land of oppertunity....

It's still the best place to express...anything you like...Your love of art, your love of music, your contempt for the current administration, your outrage at the political structure/cronyism/corruption without fear of retalitation in the form of jail....

And I still think, even being to Oz and Cannuk, that it's the prettiest country. [Perhaps it's my upbringing, but having visited 5 different countrys, I guess I am still partial in my opinion.]. Appologies to my friends in those countries for my brash opinion.

And as much as I wonder at people, genders, and races, I am still glad for the freedom my brothers and sisters have in this country, where they are free and encouraged to vote and express thier criticizm of goverment and wrongs within society. I have to remember, that as a collective whole, they contribute far more than I realize.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity,..."

Americans are generally generous, welcoming and kind. I'm in the US right now for the 4th and enjoying great hospitality and great conversations.

The country is also large enough, diverse enough and passionate enough that it's an amazing nursery for innovation and experiment in science and society.

This reminds me of a stat I saw recently. Americans give such a large percentage of their income to charity that it dwarfs ALL other countries.

This is just ONE reason to LOVE America.

Welcome to America, Bravus!

We should be so lucky as to have more of your kind living here.

Last night I attended the second of three patriotic concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. Interspersed with Sousa marches and Ferde Grofe's Grand Canyon Suite were several sets of cowboy/Western songs sung by a cowboy quartet (Tumblin' Tumbleweed, etc.). At the end, during the Sousa medley, the Bowl was alight with a fabulous fireworks display, all timed to fit the beat of the music. Some set pieces also displayed the Flag, Stars and Stripes, and "Love, Honor, Liberty."

By the time the last flash had faded and the last chord died away, I had tears flowing down my face. It had been 100 degrees F. here earlier that day, but in the cool of the balmy evening, the whole scene added up to a great sensual reminder of why I love this country.

Freedom: to worship God according to one's own conscience, live here or leave, to speak out against the government or any injustice by anyone, to choose one's profession, to choose one's schooling

Opportunity: Free public education through grade 12, college aid for the low income (the only reason I was able to go to college), government regulation to prevent monopolies, government loans and assistance to help individuals start small businesses (SBA), limited regulation of non-monopoly business, anti-discrimination laws

Free-market Capitalism: an economic system that protects the consumer in which companies become successful by making their products affordable to the masses

Peace: America helped bring peace to the world by fighting WW1 and WW2. While there have been some smaller scale wars since then, war has not broken out on a grand scale since it ended in 1945 - over 60 years. America does not deserve all the credit for this long period of relative peace but it certainly has played a major role in it.

I love the four distinct seasons I enjoy in Maryland.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Besides all the other "freedoms" that we take for granted,having lived in five different countries, I sure do enjoy being able to go from Florida to California and all states in between and not having to stop and "check in" at "Federal or State Police Control Points" nor have to show my "ID card" to any law enforcement person who demands it.In some of these countries if you are caught without ID you go directly to jail. (do not pass 'Go'; do not collect $200 "
