Amelia Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Ananova: The long and short of it! The world's tallest man has shaken hands with the man currently aiming for a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's shortest. The historic meeting between 7ft 9ins Bao Xishun and He Pingping, who's just 2ft 5ins, took place in Baotou in China's Inner Mongolia, reports Metro. Bao also hit the headlines this week when he married 5ft 6ins saleswoman Xia Shujian in a traditional Mongolian ceremony. Bao, a herdsman from Inner Mongolia, recently saved the lives of two dolphins by using his long arms to reach down their throats and remove plastic shards from their stomachs. He became officially recognised as the world's tallest man last year, beating the previous record holder, Radhouane Charbib of Tunisia, by just 2mm. Moderators Nan Posted July 13, 2007 Moderators Posted July 13, 2007 Just a thought - where was a man from Mongolia when he was saving the dolphins? I remember a slightly similar scene, about 30 years ago in our Karachi Adventist Hospital. There was a little lady who was employed there - not as small as this gentleman but very much shorter than my 5ft 4 in. Visiting the hospital was a man from the GC youth department, who must have been 6ft 6in. Coincidentally as he was coming out a door she was going in - everyone burst out laughing at the contrast. I have always been sorry I did not have a camera at the ready! Quote
