Rachael's Crisis

Recommended Posts

Posted

Rachael was a high school drop-out, heroin addict, and struggling alcoholic when she found out she was four months pregnant. It was the last thing she wanted to hear.

The doctors at Planned Parenthood didn't have good news. They told Rachael the pregnancy would be high risk for premature birth, low birth weight, birth defects and that her baby would most likely be born addicted to heroin. To make matters even worse, they told Rachael that her baby would be at high risk of SIDS the first year of life and that it would most likely not have a normal childhood development.

Abortion was Planned Parenthood's solution.

And Rachael and her boyfriend felt as if they had no other options.

Unsure of what to do, Rachel called a friend who recommended a local Care Net pregnancy center. "I just poured out all of my fears. Cindy (the Care Net consultant) told me I could turn it all over to God... my baby's health, my addictions, my life."

Despite all odds, Rachael decided to choose life.

Rachael's pregnancy was filled with a lot of uncertainty but she was resolved to trust God with the outcome.

Today, Rachael is proud mother to daughter Brooklyn.

Says the new mom, "I cry almost every time I look at her. Brooklyn gave me something to live for."

As for all of little Brooklyn's risks and complications... they completely disappeared, something Rachael readily attributes to the power of prayer and God's amazing grace.

Brooklyn is 100% healthy, and she shows no signs of her mother's drug use.

And Rachael?

She is free from heroin and alcohol. And better still, she is seeking to serve her new Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, every day.

Praise the Lord. That is a powerful example of the power of prayer and how God can come into a life(s).
