Guest charis Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 In 1964 I was a kid at a Boy Scout Camp (yes, I'm a girl, but my father was the Camp Director, ergo, I got to go to Scout Camp). In Scouting - at that time - there was a strong emphasis on taking care of nature, as well as a strong respect and belief in God. One of the Forest Service Smokey Bear posters was this one from 1964: Do you think it would be politically correct to use this poster today? I don't. I wish it were though. Quote
Neil D Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 What's different between your old poster and this one? The goal is the same...preventing forest fires.... Or am I missing something? Amelia Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Yep, in the first one Smokey is praying.
