1. Felicita Castillo, mother of Elder Ernie Castillo-Vice President

of the NAD, passed away on August 16, 2007, in Sacramento, California.

She was 86. Services are today at 1:30 p.m. at the Montecito Memorial

Park, 3520 East Washington Street, Colton, CA 92324.

2. Justin S. King, father of Elder Don King-President of the

Atlantic Union Conference, passed away in Jamaica the same week-end that

Don was performing the wedding of his own son in Sligo Church. Services

are scheduled for September 2, 2007, at the Port Antonio Adventist

Church in Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica.

3. Elder Robert Osborn, who for many years served as Associate

Treasurer of the General Conference passed away this morning after a

quick bout with pneumonia. Elder Osborn is the father of Dick

Osborn-President of Pacific Union College, and Ken Osborn-Associate

Treasurer of the NAD. Service arrangements are yet to be determined.

4. Elder Jim Micheff Jr., Youth Ministries Director of the Michigan

Conference, has been named Secretary of the Conference, following the

retirement of Fred Earles.

5. Last Sabbath, August 18, 2007, I heard Kermit Netteburg preach.

During his Christ-centered sermon on the Second Coming of Jesus, he was

able to promote Adventist elementary and secondary schools, Columbia

Union College, and the Signs of the Times.

6. My guest this week on REALLY LIVING is Ralph Carmichael. While

he is not a Seventh-day Adventist, he has had an impact on our church.

In fact, three of his songs are in the Adventist Church Hymnal. Watch

the interview on Friday, August 24, 2007.

7. Earthquake in Peru: Elder Erton Kohler, SAD president, has

informed us of the following-- There are at least 300 Adventists who

have lost everything they had. 407 Church member’s houses have been

destroyed. Four Adventist church members have lost their lives and one

is missing. One college building suffered damages. Eleven church

building have been destroyed or severely damaged.

ADRA Peru has been helping - a group of SDA medical doctors are helping

and a group of nurses from Universidad Adventista de Peru (Peruvian

Adventist University) are also helping, besides the Peruvian Adventist

churches and from outside of Peru. Every Adventist church in Peru is a

collecting and distribution center. The South Peru Union is doing an

exceptional work in organizing and coordinating everything in order to

help the needy people. More help is needed. For those who read Spanish
