Stan Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Read this a few times over the years, it hit me that Job was not one of the Children of Israel, but rather an Arab. (This man was the GREATEST of all the people of the EAST ) Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Amelia Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Job 1:1 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. 1:2 He had seven sons and three daughters. 1:3 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. Quote: Job 1:11. Uz--north of Arabia-Deserta, lying towards the Euphrates. It was in this neighborhood, and not in that of Idumea, that the Chaldeans and Sabeans who plundered him dwell. The Arabs divide their country into the north, called Sham, or "the left"; and the south, called Yemen, or "the right"; for they faced east; and so the west was on their left, and the south on their right. Arabia-Deserta was on the east, Arabia-Petræa on the west, and Arabia-Felix on the south. 3. men of the east--denoting in Scripture those living east of Palestine; as the people of North Arabia-Deserta Quote <p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="font-weight:bold;"><span style="font-style:italic;">"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."</span></span> Eph 4:29</span><br><br><img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/weathersticker/gizmotimetemp_both/US/OR/Fairview.gif" alt="Fairview.gif"> Fairview Or</p>
Dr. Shane Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 I know my Chronological Bible has Job living at 1967 BC to 1827 BC. Abraham was 1927 BC to 1792 BC. I don't know how they came up with those dates. In my reading of Job, I don't see how it can be dated. Does Job show up in genealogies somewhere? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... D. Allan Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 an interesting commentary on the book of job at http://www.bookofjob.org/ job has been identified by Aristeas as the Jobab mentioned in Gen.34:33, a great grandson of Esau; but this is doubtful. http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=1764&letter=A Quote dAb O frabjous day!
