Praise the Lord that Jesus is Lord over all dark powers!

Sexual abuse, particulary abuse of young girls, seems clearly to be one of the primary ways that Satan gains possession and control of people's lives. Sex is so powerful and is such a pervading, deep influence throughout our whole personality that unless we are under the control of Christ, Satan is able to take full advantage of it to completely control and dominate human minds and bodies.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Where did EGW say this? Are you saying that because Mary was sexually abused as a child that she became a prostitute? Or was she not a prostitute? Did she actually have demons (Satan's minions) in her? Or were her demons those of fear, no self esteem, hopelessness, worthlessness? Or perhaps a combination of both?

She said that it was her uncle (I think it was Lazarus) who led her into sin

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

I thought Lazarus was her brother..

This is getting confusing.. attachment-1.gif

Who was the one who threw the party that they were at, when Mary brought out the perfume? You are right, Lazarus is the brother...

Hang on, lemme go look it up for you

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

It was her uncle Simon, who threw the party, who was apparently the culprit. That is why when Judas started blaming Mary for wasting her money on perfume that Jesus was so kind to her. He talked to Simon about how he was invited to the party but from the time he entered into the house he was not offered water to wash his feet, as was customary. Then he compared Simon to the woman who washed His feet with her tears.

He did this to contrast the inner spirit of both parties, without making public the crime that had been done to the woman.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

okay... Mary was sexually abused as a child. How does that automatically (?) infer that THAT was the cause of her demon possession?

That doesn't. The possible connection was inferred in a comment earlier on in the thread.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

I just suggested that it might be an option. I have learned more from reading this thread than I knew before about Mary and her history!! So I can't say for sure that it was all this.

I mean people DO have a history of sexual abuse and do NOT have demons. Alters that form from extended abuse can seem that way but in reality are a part of a person who is NOT demon possessed at all. I would certainly hesitate to call all Alters demons! But the abuse certainly puts the person in a VERY vulnerable postion for exploitation by the powers of darkness.

I really appreciate that Scriptures give this story. It gives many an example they can relate to and shows God's compassion to us no matter WHAT our history!

AS has already been mentioned,

Quote:
The more things change the more they remain the same!

And the Bible has it ALL covered!
