Stan Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Wasn't it just a little while ago GWB was saying he needed a truck full of troops in Iraq? So why the sudden change? Dr. Shane Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I believe the President is taking into consideration the General Contreras' advice. When the general asked for more troops, more were sent. Now that he says they have accomplished their mission, they are being withdrawn. The critics' response is interesting to me. First they cried not enough troops were in Iraq. Then when the surge was announced they cried we should be pulling out instead of deepening our commitment. Now that the surge is being withdrawn they claim the progress has been made in spite of the surge, not because of it, and the number being withdrawn is not enough. It is almost like the critics are just playing the role of loyal opposition in that it doesn't matter what the Administration does, they will oppose and criticize it.
