Dr. Shane Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hillary Clinton 'could cost Democrats dear' Quote: The private memo, leaked to The Washington Post, painted what researchers described as a "sobering picture" for Democrats who believe that President George W Bush's disastrous favourability numbers almost guarantee they will capture the White House next year. All party preference polls show that Democrats are much more popular than Republicans. But when the names of individual candidates are used, the gap narrows considerably. Quote: Frank Luntz, a leading Republican pollster, said: "This poll reveals what grassroots Democrats have been concerned about. Hillary is their choice ideologically but not necessarily politically and they're afraid she could lose. "Democrats want to win more than anything else and they will compromise on policy to achieve electability." Mrs Clinton, he said, prompted a series of perceptions that could damage her. "She never admits she's wrong. There's a lack of candour and a harshness to her. She doesn't have any of the typical challenges of a female candidate but that is in itself a challenge. "She doesn't show heart. People see her as strong and a fighter, someone who is qualified and can get things done but she's missing that personal element, that emotional connection. "Rudy does better among independents than Hillary does and in the end the candidate that gets the majority of independents wins the election." Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Neil D Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I have noticed that anytime you post anything about the Clintons, it is in a bad light. First, you posted stuff on Clinton's daughter and now 10 points bad to Rudy.... Could this desire to show the Clintons be "Clinton hate" ? Dr. Shane Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 Is this an attempt to turn the focus of the thread off the topic and onto another member of the forum? I hope not. I think Hillary is the most qualified of the candidates running for President. That isn't to say I think she would do the best job or that I agree with all of her positions. However since she has already spent eight years in the White House, and not baking cookies, I think she would have little to no learning curve. She would hit the ground running, so to speak. Given a choice between her and wet-behind-the-ears Obama, I would most certainly choose Hillary. I also like Rudy but have doubts that he will get the nomination. I am watching Fred Thompson. He hasn't been in any of the debates yet and I haven't seen where he is at on many of the issues. I like his demeanor but that doesn't count for too much with me. I don't think most people know enough about him for any polls to give us any good information about how he would line up against Hillary or Obama. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
