nishaun Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I understand that in Isaiah 65:20 when it states "the child shall die an hundred years old" it really means a child will "cease being a child" at a hundred. But what does the other part of the verse about sinners being accursed mean? Quote
Moderators John317 Posted October 13, 2007 Moderators Posted October 13, 2007 Isaiah is writing about what would have happened if Israel had obeyed God's commandments and accepted the Messiah. There would then have been a period during which the people of Israel would have increased in strength and health. This would have preceeded the resurrection and immortality. The last part of the verse may be translated, "And if he [any man] does not attain a hundred, he is thought accursed" (Revised English Bible). However, this verse might also be understood to mean that what happens to the wicked, even if he attains old age, will be contrary to the blessings experienced by the righteous. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
