Dr. Shane Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 This afternoon on the expressway coming back to my office I saw a huge cloud of black smoke start coming from a big truck about a 1/2 mile in front of me. All the cars began to slow down and as I approached I saw a large garbage truck carrying a roll-off container had rear-ended a car and the car was completely engulfed in flames covering the expressway in black smoke. I had actually been 1/2 mile behind the accident as it happened. Of course no police or fire fighters were on the scene yet. I am sure whoever was in the car couldn't have survived. It is kind of scary to witness something like that even from a distance. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Dr. Shane Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Here is a link to the story. Victim of Donna Wreck Identified I have heard a lot of people complain about the garbage trucks in that area. That is the exit they have to take to get to the landfill. I built a school just a few miles down the road from that same landfill and we had to be very careful getting in and out of the job site because of those trucks. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Guest gem Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I would be concern of the children/students who are going to the school in that area, doesn't sound too safe. Quote
Ellen Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I saw a scene that was terrible in town as I approached an intersection a lady was lying on the road in front of a town bus. Another lady was going towards her and noone was trying to get the downed person up. I can only guess that the bus must have hit her. When I came out of the store nearby the rescue people were there with lights flashing. I haven't heard the results of the accident, but it all makes you realize anything can happen when you leave home. Quote
Ellen Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Did you see the truck accident on T V last night. A transport truck was hanging over a cliff, the trailer was holding it on the road and the nose of the truck was pointing straight down. It had a good ending. Firemen pulled the driver through the back window. An experience he will never forget. Quote

You don't want to get a "downed" person up who have been hit by a bus. There could be damage that would be made worse by nonprofessional movement of the person. So, I think that is why no one was moving the downed person. Smart move or "non-move". Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. LifeHiscost Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 it all makes you realize anything can happen when you leave home. Or when you stay home. I cannot remember the number of innocent bystanders of recent, within and out of the confines of their homes, who have died when struck by bullets of driveby shootings. There's only one place safe in the type of world in which we live. Hard to tell whether the person sustained spinal injury, so best not to move her or try to get her up until EMS arrives then they'll do a thorough assessment. Quote
