There are numerous errors here. The first is the implicit assumption that there is opposition or separation between the two. It's a kind of reductionism, i.e., "If only we were filled with the Spirit, we wouldn't have to concern ourselves with methodology." It also implies that one who does focus on methodology 'must not be truly spiritual.' Second,it demonstrates a lack of awareness of the careful methodology demonstrated by Jesus and the disciples. It also serves to illustrate the latent anti-intellectualism common in Adventism. Jesus, for example, never referred to himself as the Messiah. When directly asked if he was, he did not deny it. But his favorite term for himself was 'son of man.' That shows a definite concern for method-- one we would do well to understand, and not just take for granted. The differences between the Gospels, especially Matthew, Luke, and John, are excellent examples of differing approaches for different audiences. I believe Abba's Spirit is being rained down upon those willing to have a Love Relationship with Him. Sadly, I also believe that most SDA churches are so wrapped up in blood + works = salvation theology that most members are missing the shaking going on. So most of the spreading of the Good News of our Kinsman Redeemer is being done without us. Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
