On Sabbath 16 October, the new Seventh-day Adventist Church in Dahasa, Upper Egypt was dedicated by Kjell Aune, President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Egypt. The old church in Dahasa had collapsed about three years ago, whilst a mosque was being built next door and permission had been given to build a new Adventist Church nearby. The village of Dahasa has 3 ? 4 thousand inhabitants, of whom, approximately 600 are Christians and about 10% of the Christians are Adventists. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is the only Christian church in Dahasa and has a history that goes back about 50 years. It is an active and healthy church with a wide variety of age groups. The special service which lasted for two and a half hours, consisted of the dedication; a baptism of six people, prepared for baptism by Sameh Doss, the local church pastor; and a celebration of the Lord's Supper. A further group of people have expressed their decision to be baptised at a later date. Following the service fellowship and a lovely meal were enjoyed by all. Thanks were expressed to the members of Dahasa Church, for their sacrifice of time and money, in the completion of the church project and trust that they will be a lighthouse in their community. [Kjell Aune/ANR] WHERE ARE WE AT WITH LIFEdevelopment.info? WATFORD, ENGLAND [ANR] ? Maybe you are among the many who watched the 'Evidence' programmes in March this year. You enjoyed seeing familiar faces on your television screens such as Gillian Joseph, Ken Burton, Paul Lee and others. You were interested in the interviews and were moved by the inspiring presentations by Pastor Dwight Nelson. You even encouraged your non-Adventist friends to watch and discuss the various topics presented in the ten programmes. But when the series was over you thought that was it. Well, that was not it.. * LIFEdevelopment.info started with 'Get Connected', level one, where we encouraged every member to make friends with unchurched secular people. * We provided a tool in the form of the LIFE.info magazine, which could be used as a means of contact with people in our communities. * The 'Evidence' series of programmes formed level two in the concept of LIFEdevelopment.info, which stirred people's thinking about very relevant questions for our world today: Why do Christians believe in a God? How does God communicate with us? How can we find healing for the hurt and pain we have suffered or the pain we have caused? Now we have reached level three. 'Mind the Gap' is the third stage in the exciting process of LIFEdevelopment.info and is part of a number of resources being made available to church members which are designed to prepare postmodern people to receive the Gospel message. These ten programmes presented by Pastor Dwight Nelson, introducing basic Christianity which is authentic and has a deep intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, will cover the topics of Faith; Bible; Prayer; Jesus Who?; Jesus' Death and Resurrection; Jesus' Second Coming; Holy Spirit; Human Nature; Healing and Fellowship. The transmission of the ten programmes in February 2005 is as follows: Monday 7 February Faith Tuesday 8 February Bible Wednesday 9 February Prayer Thursday 10 February Jesus Friday 11 February Jesus' Second Coming Monday 14 February Jesus' Death and Resurrection Tuesday 15 February Holy Spirit Wednesday 16 February Human Nature Thursday 17 February Healing Friday 18 February Fellowship There is no greater joy than leading men and women to a knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Saviour. The Church needs you to play your part in reaching the thousands of unchurched throughout Great Britain and Ireland. If you have been through the first two levels making friends with an unchurched person and sharing with them the 'Evidence', then you are ready to introduce them to 'Mind the Gap'. Even level three is not the end of the road for LIFEdevelopment.info. There will be seven levels in all, and when we are finished with all seven it's back to the beginning, making contacts, making friends, because that's what the Great Commission is all about. If you have not got involved yet, why not start today? On Monday 18 October, Kjell Aune, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Egypt, together with Dr. Hanna Malaka, Saad Khilla and Samir Berbawy, visited with the newly elected Minister of Education for Egypt, Dr. Ahmad Gamal El Deen. The Minister was informed about the local and international educational work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. "For more than 100 years" said Aune, "Adventists have been present in Egypt, and have been running schools in the country for about 70 years". Aune advised the Minister of the great emphasis placed on education by the Adventist Church. A mutual wish for a good, open working relationship was expressed, and the Minister opened an avenue of communication with him in case of special concerns. "This 'opening of the door' to discussions about our concerns" said Orville Woolford, Education Director for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Trans European region, "is a significant step forward for us as we seek to meet the educational needs of the children and youth in our school system in Egypt". Following the meeting the Adventist delegation visited the Presidential Palace, to write a greeting in the protocol because of the recent re-election of the President, for life. It is important that, as a church, we are visible in the community and nurture a good relationship with the authorities. [Kjell Aune/ANR] TED PRAYER GUIDE FOR WEEK 7 ? 13 NOVEMBER 2004 ST ALBANS, ENGLAND [ANR] ? Once Jesus asked a man who was an invalid for 38 years, ?Do you want to get well?? When Jesus never did get a straight answer from the man, He simply told him to ?act healthy? ? ?Get up?, Jesus said, ?Pick up your mat and walk?. And the man?s answer to Jesus? question came in his response to Jesus? orders. He obeyed Jesus? command to act healthy. He was saying that he wanted to be well and so Jesus healed him. The same question can be asked today of our church. Do you want to get well? And the answer is not always obvious. Getting well may require the exercise of spiritual gifts, stepping out in faith, incorporating newcomers, who are unlike the old timers, the comfort that we have in the church will be invaded. So, what is your answer to the question? For use, getting well always requires change; it always calls for action. Getting well means we must ?pick up? our beds and walk. We must act healthy. Prayer Requests: 1. That your church responds to the question and acts healthy because a healthy church improves God?s reputation in its community ? among believers and unbelievers.
