Is there a verse that states that the main reason God would not allow King David to build a temple is because he was a man of war?

I Chron. 28:3. But I noticed that I Kings 5 sheds a slightly different light by saying it was because of all the wars waged against David. But, anyway, it was because David was a man of war.
