A few thoughts ... First I agree with you. But could some of it be cultural? And some just the fact that the one they put up there to speak may not be familiar with reading a script before the TV. The obvious answer would be WHY didn't he memorize it if he didn't have experience with reading the lines. For some reason I suspect that our leaders do not often make such speeches before the TV. We tend to not get involved in political difficulties much. They may have wanted a high ranking Black person to make the speech and he might not have been the BEST choice !! I am far from being the brightest guy on the block, yet even I would not want that for the world to see. Retakes are available.. I think it would have been better for our President to do the job but HE isn't Black. Therein lies the problem. It HAD to be a Black guy that is High Up. Otherwise, I'm sure we have PR people of some kind who could do a good job. I know some really good preachers who freeze up in front of a camera. It's harder for them when they can't see the people's faces. Maybe that's something they should teach in seminary. Quote

I'm the one who said we should give him a break.) I've done video narrations, and I can say that sometimes it just doesn't go well, and I wasn't even in front of a camera. Quote
