Moved to a happier location, a place where there is clean water, birds are singing.. rabbits are chasing butterflies... PLEASE START THIS OVER without BITING people, ALL OF YOU

OK. I WOULD like to start this over. But before my thread was hijacked ... I had posted a large amount of History about women elders and pastors that I wanted to discuss. It was a lot of work that I went to inorder to post all that here. I do not wish to have to go and do all that research again.

Could I please have the information that I posted returned from Cyber Hell so that I can once again try to do as this thread was intended before it was hijacked?

This is what happens when a thread is hijacked. The one that wanted a civil discussion gets shoved away. I pleaded 6 or 7 times in a polite way to have the hijacking stopped. Did I get any support from the two moderators there? NO.

It seems to me that moderators who are present during a hijacking should have some responsibility even if it is not "their thread". Could they not provide the rest of us SOME guidance and assistance in getting help? Could they not encourage the thread to return to the topic instead of joining in with the hijacking?

Now ... due to their hijacking ... my thread is gone. It is easy to say start over ... but then give me the initial posting back so it CAN be started over. To destroy all my research into Cyber Hell is not fair. Return the initial post and let us "start over".

Otherwise the real winners are the hijackers.

...the real winners are the hijackers.

No Redwood, the real winners are the whiners... snapping

Pulling an entire topic seems rather heavy handed and the equivalent of using grenades to get rid of flies in your house. It may work but it destroys your stuff along with it.

Having been off the forum all day, I have no idea what precipitated all this, so all I can do is speculate since nobody has clued me in on what happened. But for this draconian approach to moderating to be justified it must have been really terrible.

As I have said before, there are better ways to take care of problems on the forum so it doesn't screw it all up for those who are participating appropriately and for those who, such as you Redwood, put a great deal of thought and effort into posting useful and helpful information. Now all that was good on the topic is gone.

There are two very simple, far less drastic ways to take care of whatever the problem was. 1.)Forced time-out for trouble-makers, such as those who can't control themselves, keep picking fights, don't know when to back off and just let something go, or whatever objective criteria violates forum decorum. (I might suggest that as things are currently, forum decorum here on CA lacks any definition that is objectively helpful or useful...) 2.) Edit out just what violates the rules, leaving the rest for continued discussion.

What happened to the original thread? I hadn't been around here for 32-hours and....gone.

I agree with you Tom.

What kind of moderating is this?

Why punish all those who contributed appropriately?

This is simply a LACK of moderating. It is abusive moderating.

But, it is not a new approach. It seems to be sameo samo.

In this thread ... I repeatedly and politely asked for help from a moderator . There were TWO of them here and one ADMIN. None wanted to do ANYTHING or even suggest ANYTHING .... The reason of course was ... "Hey ... I'm not the moderator here on THIS thread.

If the staff on this forum are not of any help because it is "not in THEIR job description" ... then we have a problem.

When inappropriate interactions are pointed out 6 or 7 times and the moderators are the participants rather than moderators ... we then get what we got ....

A BIG explosion from ADMIN.

This was simply not necessary. Simply doing some healthy moderating would avoid such blow ups that cause us ALL to suffer.

Hey, friend, i'm not a moderator here on this thread, either. I notice the tone of your new thread here is not getting off to a good start. (If I were a moderator on this thread I would probably delete the post I am replying to - however I don't have the ability to do that, only on my own forum can I do that. Send the whiners to my forum and I'll delete their posts, when they whine, and also the abusers when they abuse [that is if i'm still around to do it. It's getting to be heavy trudging through these muddy ruts.] :) )

Excuse my whining ! bwink

Your points are well taken. I always appreciate your thoughts and value them. The discussion is not a pleasant one. But the option is the status quo . And that is not pleasant either.

The question IS ... Can we learn from unpleasant experiences ... or do we just shove them aside and forget them?

The question really is can "I" learn from unpleasant experiences?

When we blame others for the unpleasantnesses we experience (inside our own being, i add) we are in effect 'shoving them aside' so that we can avoid dealing with our own unpleasant responses! Hm? Otherwise, we preserve the 'status quo' which exists in our own head and heart. We can't do anything about the head or heart of anyone else, unless they sincerely ask for our help.

Believe me, I'm working on it too!

Good Luck!

My initials, Redwood, form a palindrome.

PAL-in-drome–noun

1. a word, line, verse, number, sentence, etc., reading the same backward as forward, as Madam, I'm Adam or Poor Dan is in a droop.

well, i guess i'm mistaken about my initials forming a palindrome. bAddAb is a palindrome!

dAb is bi-laterally symetrical so that if you put a mirrior on either end it spells dAbdAb. is that right? :--) :--)
