Dr. Shane Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Well, the little church we are helping to build just south of the border (in Mexico) now has walls and a roof. Sad thing is that I was too busy at work to get down there during construction. They built it this week in just three days. I drew the plan for them and helped them get their permits for construction. Now we have a shell but need to finish it out. We need windows, doors a front porch and my signature item... a bell tower. carolaa Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Yea!! You guys must be so happy. I hope it was easier to jump through the hoops in Mexico than it has been for our church here in Texas. Quote
Dr. Shane Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 Here is a sketch of what it will look like when it is done. What was built this week is the part beyond the bell tower and parapet wall. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Amelia Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 That's great Shane. It reminds me of the church build in the movie "Lilies Of The Field". Dr. Shane Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 The sketch isn't exactly how it will be because my computer design software is cheap and I couldn't get the window in the bell tower higher. The window will actually be higher and the SDA logo with the Bible and flame will be painted above the center arch and the window in the bell tower. The church is built out of concrete block. The sides and rear will be painted. The front will be covered with plaster or stucco and then painted. The roof panels are corrugated, galvanized metel (kind of ugly but cheap) The front parapet wall is designed to hide the main roof over the church. The front roof over the porch will be spanish, clay roof tile. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Amelia Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Metal roofs aren't that ugly. They come in colors now. Can you get a color for the same cost? If you can, get a color that matches the tiles. Dr. Shane Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 In Mexico, these roofs are very common because they are so cheap. The missionary group that built the church installed it so we take what we get. But, we can paint it if we so desire after the other improvements have been made. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
