TV vs Church Preaching

Recommended Posts

I watch so much Adventist television that I think I am spoiled with good preaching. I mean, really good preaching. I love my local pastors. I respect them and think they do a great job. I doubt I could do a better job if I were in their place. But the preaching on Sabbath morning just doesn't measure up to what I am use to on TV. In fact, I could stay home most Sabbath mornings and get a better sermon.

I find I go to church and actively participate (I am on our local church board) mostly because of the fellowship, children's programming and outreach opportunities that the church offers. all of those are good things. Yet I get more spiritual learning from the TV than from the local church.

Is Adventist television changing some of the dynamics in Adventist lifestyles and the church?

I think the Adventist lifestyle is constantly changing and growing and rightfully so. If we are not dynamic ... then we are stagnant.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Of course, you get the better ones on TV, otherwise they wouldn't be on it. Far too many preachers are outdone by some elders in their congregations. I can't blame members falling asleep at the 11 o'clock service.
