"have hope toward God... that there shall be a resurrection of the dead" (Acts 24:15) "now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers... Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?" Acts 26:7, 8) "For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?" (1 Thess. 2:19) "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him." Moderators Nan Posted January 23, 2008 Moderators Posted January 23, 2008 We buried my mother yesterday. Her last meetings with her loved ones all ended with "I want to meet you in the Kingdom". Sammy took the funeral service yesterday which was indeed full of our confidence in the resurrection. The final hymn was In the Sweet Bye and Bye, one of her favourites. She is much missed, but at rest from her ills, and we certainly "Have this Hope". Quote

I am comforted by the fact that the Bible continually refers to death as a sleep over and over and over again. As we begin to understand the entire plan of redemption and the great controversy we really start to long for Jesus to come soon and bring it all to an end. When we understand death as a sleep, we shouldn't mourn as unbelievers do. That isn't to say we shouldn't mourn. We mourn their loss not their death. The two are not the same. Their loss means they will no longer be in our lives. When we love someone we are going to mourn their loss. We are going to miss them. Their death is a sleep. While we have reason to mourn their loss, we need not mourn their death which is nothing more than sleeping in Christ. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... I will be happy to, Stan, when we get back home - returning to Sydney today. It is time to try to get back to normal life, such as that will be. Yesterday my sister and I took some time out and visited a local water garden, about 14 acres of waterlilies and lotus, a beautiful and healing place. I will put some pictures of that in the appropriate place too. Thank you all for your expressions of sympathy and hope. I too think so much of Half Step Denise, and Naomi. Quote
