19-year-old in bad accident

Recommended Posts

I just got a call about the older brother of a very sweet young girl that I know.

Just this morning, this girl's 19-year-old brother, Nick was in a dreadful car accident. He had been visiting his best friend and was on his way home when he had a terrible car accident. As I write this, Nick is in surgery and his prognosis is not good. Please pray that the Lord will heal him, or if not will bring comfort to this young girl, her parents, and her other brother.

If people would like to write encouraging messages or prayers for this young man to the family I am sure they would really appreciate it .I have set up an email address for this purpose at prayers4nick@yahoo.com .

Thank you so much!

He is still alive and the pressure in his brain is not increasing which is very good news. He spun out on ice..no one is sure if he went to sleep at the wheel or not, but he was driving slowly and not recklessly. Anyway he hit a tractor Trailer and his skulled was cracked and pushed a ways into his brain. So it doesn't sound good but the doctor was much more upbeat today about his condition. He has had two brain surgeries already. Even if he does survive he may have brain damage. No one knows for sure yet and there is always a chance of a miracle not only for his life but for his cognative recovery as well.

Please keep praying for the family. Some have written to him on the address of prayers4nick@yahoo.com and Nick's Mom said that the messages have meant a lot to their family. They can't believe that perfect strangers would write to them and keep them in their prayers. Thanks so much and if you haven't written already please consider doing so. It means a lot to them.

From Nick's Parents:

Good morning to all,

I hope you all are well. I was just in to see Nick. He had a CAT scan this morning at 6:00. That is ironic because Nick is definitely not a morning person. The scan shows his brain is still swollen. His numbers look good this morning. The nurse said Nick did not have any seizures last night, but he did have a lot of posturing. His bed inflates and deflates to keep him in motion to prevent bed sores. Nick is so hooked up to machines that it takes about 1/2 hour to switch everything over to take him out to do his CAT scans. It's a major ordeal.

Yesterday was a critical day for the swelling in Nick's brain. Today is much the same as yesterday. It is best to let Nick rest with the least amount of stimulation.

It is so hard to see Nick lay there motionless for days. For those who know Nick, you know how full of life he is. Always active or wanting to be. To see him laying there, not moving at all for days just isn't right.

I am thankful you all are out there praying for Nick. There are people in ICU that have no support. In the room next to Nick there is a man that is from the penitentiary nearby. He is under constant guard. NO visitors for him. On the other side of Nick is a man that has been in a coma for over two weeks with pneumonia. I am praying for them too.

I am headed back in to be with Nick and read. The support has been so appreciated. Please keep praying for Nick. Even though we are seeing signs that give us hope, Nick is far from being out of the woods. All the good numbers can change in a heartbeat. Our faith is strong knowing that what ever God does will for some good, even if we don't understand it now. Someday in heaven God will give us the reason for what has happened. We are putting our trust in God regardless.

God bless you all
