We had a dedicated server before, but it got clogged up all the time with all the other forums, ie spanish, swahili, Zim etc.. I sympathize with the server load issues, this is always a problem in a shared hosting environment. Need some recommendations for a dedicated server? Does your host have any suggestions about the reasons for the load levels? Looking at the UBB forum, I see others are having load issues as well. Sometimes it's as simple as an errant script that locks everything up, or too many posts in your databsae and a need to prune old posts after a certain period of time. Web-based chat programs can create load issues, too. If the latter is part of the problem, a dedicated server may be the only recourse. We have had servers, rented space, now we have a Virtual Private Server, it looks like we have to go up about 2 levels, about $50 more per month... We have deleted around a 4-500,000 posts over the years, some of which I regret doing.. I think we have about 150,000 right now... There is an upgrade coming out for this software soon. The spanish forum went down today for a while... www.foroadventista.com as did a few others, they are on the old server still...
