olger Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 not? In other words, is it sufficient to say "I'm just not a morning person" to excuse grumpiness? In other words "I can't help it? Is that caused by lifestyle habits or by physiological control factors that a person simply can't help? Looking forward to your input, oG Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Members phkrause Posted February 9, 2008 Members Posted February 9, 2008 I think olger that its a lifestyle thing. When I was in my youth I would stay up late and rise not that early but not to late. As I started into my working days I started getting up early and going to bed before 11. As the years went by I started to go to bed early than 11. Between 9&10. Now its very hard for me to go to bed past 10. I also heard from Curtis&Paula Eakins on "Abundant Living" (3abn). That EGW mentioned in one of her books that we should go to bed before 10 pm. I thought that was very interesting. pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Amelia Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I too have to get up early.(5:30am) But I am no way a morning person. It's very hard to get myself out of the bed when the alarm goes off. Even after a shower I don't feel quite alive. And that's after 8+ hrs of sleep. I start to perk up about 9am. I've found that if I sleep in on the weekends I will natuarally wake round about 8am. But I have to make myself go to bed early because I can quite easily putter around until the hrs. Unless I sit down and watch TV. That always puts me to sleep.LOL Quote <p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="font-weight:bold;"><span style="font-style:italic;">"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."</span></span> Eph 4:29</span><br><br><img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/weathersticker/gizmotimetemp_both/US/OR/Fairview.gif" alt="Fairview.gif"> Fairview Or</p>
CyberGuy Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Same here. On weekends I sleep until 8 am and wake up refreshed. But on weekdays I have to set the alarm to get up by 6 am at the latest. I feel tired until I walk swiftly for an hour or so but even then I feel really tired around 3 pm. By about 430pm I get my second wind and feel fine. But if I sleep until 8am I do not feel sleepy at 3 pm. I guess there is something to sleeping in and going to work at 9 am or so. Quote Riverside CA
olger Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 Thanks. I have known people who get into a rut of drinking coffee to wake up, and feeling groggy in the mornings. They also eat a high sugar, high fat diet. Then they go t bed late after a late meal and guess what? THE WHOLE CYCLE BEGINS AGAIN.... :) Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Amelia Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Oh not me. I don't eat after 8pm for my own comfort. I also don't use stimulants to wake me up. And my sugar, fat and carb intake is low. But I sure can tell the difference if I happen to eat something I don't normally have or eat late. My night will be horrible. Oh and I wanted to add; that even though I don't consider myself a morning person, I don't have a grumpy or grounchy attitude. I just don't believe in being surly and blaming it on having to be up in the morning. I wake up with a slight headache as if I did not sleep much at all even though I slept 8 hours. My wife says she can tell if I ate something as I toss and turn and have a restless night. I have no rememberance of that though. I guess with age I am not the superman with the iron stomach I used to be. Quote Riverside CA
Moderators Nan Posted February 10, 2008 Moderators Posted February 10, 2008 I have held for years that the world is divided into chooks (chickens) and owls. And it is much better if you marry into the same class!!!!!!!!! That is neither science nor psychology, just accumlated observation. Quote
Amelia Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I agree with you Nan. My ex is a chook. He was always up at the precrack of dawn on the weekends and trying to get me up too. Usually he wanted to be out somewhere to take pictures of the countryside at dawn. YIKES!! Not me at all. I however would be the one to scamper off into the night for a snipe hunt while he was snoring logs while the six oclock news was on. Moderators Nan Posted February 10, 2008 Moderators Posted February 10, 2008 I can relate to that in a past life, thankfully Sammy and I are much more on the same wavelength. Quote

Members phkrause Posted February 10, 2008 Members Posted February 10, 2008 I try not to eat after 6pm. I also try to eat my meals at least 4-5 hours apart. First meal around 6am, second around 11:30 and last around 5pm and also being a very small meal at that. Mainly fruits. pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
olger Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 That's a real good pattern according to Hans Diehl. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
