Whether by book, radio or TV I hear over and over that the Jews are God's people and if we don't protect their home (Jerusalem) God will pound us into the dust. Does this hold any water? No! Why not?

Will the real Jew please stand up!

Romans 9:6 For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel; 7 neither are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but: “through Isaac your descendants will be named.” 8 That is, it is not the children of the flesh [the literal children of Abraham] who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants. Gal 4: 21 Tell me, you who desire to be under law [legalists], do you not hear the law [i.e., the 2nd book of the law]? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave and one by a free woman. 23 But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, the son of the free woman through promise. 24 Now this is an allegory: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. 27 For it is written, “Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear; break forth and shout, you who are not in travail; for the children of the desolate one are many more

than the children of her that is married.” 28 Now we, brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now. 30 But what does the scripture say? “Cast out the slave and her son [who represents the literal Jew outside Christ]; for the son of the slave shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31 So, brethren, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.

NIV: But what does the Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”

Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9 By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God....13 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

We're in complete agreement on this one, Robert!

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Is the exclamatory question legitimate?

Mebbe, mebbe not. That said,

the "real Jew" would be the first to exhort-to the greatest amount of input per this (well, mebbe not 'this', particularly) or any other issue.

That said,

The Thirteenth Tribe -- AKoestler (available online)

is an informative read.

Rev. 7 indicates that the 144K, players in the Last Days, will be members of the 12 Tribes of Israel. We know that this will be true. With the proper technology and reference points, this would not be impossible to determine.

From this, then, and the OT prophets, we can assume that the Israel and the Jerusalem we know today must once again be destroyed and its people driven into exile. When Israel finally returns to God and rebuilds the Temple in order to communicate with God, the Last Days are at the door, knocking. After the greening of Israel, the 4 Beasts arise to destroy the world, including the Temple, and enslave its people.

Babylon, Persia, Greece, and the Unnamed Beast will appear, perhaps with different names than we are familiar with, to destroy the Holy People. They nearly do so, until God interrupts the slaughter with Judgment Day.

Check out Isaiah 2.

We should not be too shocked if control of the world in the near future passes to nations in the Middle East, aka Babylon (Iraq) and Persia (Iran) via nuclear blackmail. We can't control suicide bombers or car bombers, neither can we control nuclear weapons delivered to coastal cities in rowboats or hidden in the cargo holds of great ships.

True Israel, whoever they are, must be oriented to Jesus, not to a piece of land somewhere (Galatians 3:29).
