Stan Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Special interest groups are killing the Church. There is this caucus and that caucus, looking after their own interest, usually hijacking administration from the Church Board to the GC president. We act like a denomination.. We were to be a movement.. AND NO I can not be specific.. there is too much vengeance by people that are not making a significant difference in their own community for Christ. "Others, are not living up to my expectations" says those who are not satisfied with their own experience. Woody Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Are you referring to those who put up the Anti-Pope Billboards up and down I-5 ? Those make me really embarrassed every time I see them. Stan Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 No, talking about things within the church.. Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Woody Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Well that group calls themselves Adventists. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Which group are you with Stan? Do you belong to the original historic group? Or are you with the progressives? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators LynnDel Posted February 12, 2008 Moderators Posted February 12, 2008 Yeah, Stan. I think I know what you mean. It's like someone is always poking a stick into the spokes and forward movement is prevented. Maybe that's why we get the groups that operate outside of the church, because in church committee meetings there are usually several people of strong opposing opinions saying, "The Lord told me..." and the big machine moves so slowly because of it. Our church always always needs our prayers. Quote LD
Neil D Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Which group are you with Stan? Do you belong to the original historic group? Or are you with the progressives? Oh Redwood,,,do you really believe that STan has a group that he belongs to???? Well, I think that he has a group that he does belong to....I think it is called a movement...ie Seventh Day Advent Movement.... teehe Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. fccool Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 "Others, are not living up to my expectations" says those who are not satisfied with their own experience. Stan, Isn't what you are doing in this post? Being unsatisfied with people who don't meet your expectations of what they are to do? Almost sounds like: "There are two types of people that I hate... people who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and Dutch!" Just trying to see consistency... but at the same time... I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN Quote
Stan Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 I live in a Dutch community great Liquorice, you can get a weeks with of sodium in minutes.. What I was talking about, would be something like this.. Mr President We get a blessing from a certain type of music, apparently God has not been able to get thought to "those people" THEREFORE we will withhold tithe until you help them understand God's Will for them. (rather extreme to stress a point) Or Mr President ( or secretariat etc) if THOSE people do not change and become more like how God is using us, they will die a natural death,... you need to tell them If people would just take the gospel nieghbours, our Churches, and Schools would be overflowing. Woody Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Church is ONLY for sinners. If you are perfect and you don't have anything more to learn then you can just leave. If someone has arrived ... they should leave the church and take their tithe with them. Not directed at you Stan ... just those you are talking about. CyberGuy Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 It has always been that way. I spent a few years on a church board and it was an eye opener. The board got into a fight with the head deacon on one side and the pastor and head elder on the other side. It was a nasty fight. Ended up splitting the church and the pastor was removed from our church by the conference as a result. The head elders wife was a very powerful person on the board at the conference. It soured by view of church politics. I agreed with the head elders point of view but NOT with the tactics of his wife to remove the pastor from the church. That was getting to political. I have always hated polictics when it gets into the church business. Quote Riverside CA
Amelia Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I'm with you on church boards. My stint as clerk was bizarre. So much bickering and finger pointing. Whew, I was glad when my year was up and I said NO to another. Woody Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Comeon Amelia ... Have a little back bone. All that fighting would better prepare you for life at CA. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
carolaa Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I was a church clerk for several years, and it was great. The board members were mature, intelligent people, and there was little to none of that ugly stuff. Then I moved to a different church, and wow, what an eye-opener. Satan was lying when he said "you shall not surely die," but he was telling the truth when he said we would know both good and evil. Too bad the evil has to be in the church... Quote
