Stan Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Exodus 15:26 And He said, "If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer." NASB I know I know,, this is all works oriented right? :) Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Woody Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 No. Not works oriented. It is mere consequences. But back to your original question... WHY do we get sick? None of us do the following ... Quote: do what is right in His sight, and give earto His commandments, and keep all His statutes Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
olger Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I agree about the consequences. I question the implication that no one can render obedience. Seems real negative in light of the bright promises of scripture. SOP says that sin can become distasteful to us. Would you like that response before temptation of after failure? Here yar: " All true obedience comes from the heart. It was heart work with Christ. And if we consent, He will so identify Himself with our thoughts and aims, so blend our hearts and minds into conformity to His will, that when obeying Him we shall be but carrying out our own impulses. The will, refined and sanctified, will find its highest delight in doing His service. When we know God as it is our privilege to know Him, our life will be a life of continual obedience. Through an appreciation of the character of Christ, through communion with God, sin will become hateful to us." humbly submitted by oG Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Woody Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Quote: I question the implication that no one can render obedience. Nice switcheroo Olger. A little switching around of my words . I never said no one can. I said no one does. The verse says to keep ALL of his commands. That ... NO one has done. I in no way limited the power of God .So please don't misrepresent what I say. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
olger Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 yawwnn.. scuse me. Here yar: " All true obedience comes from the heart. It was heart work with Christ. carolaa Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 God is speaking to the Israelites here, entering into a covenant with them. I don't see the verse as reaching beyond that to anyone else, although it's possible I'm wrong on that. God provided many protections to the Israelites, particularly during their 40-year sojourn in the desert. I tend to think that was just one of them. Now if you had brought up the NT reference to praying and sick ones will be healed, I would have to be right there in your boat wondering the same question. Quote
