Dr. Shane Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 The longer the Democrat race drags on the more likely McCain is to win in November. A couple of reasons for that. Obama and Clinton inflict wounds on each other so McCain doesn't have to spend a lot of money doing it. Obama and Clinton spend their campaign treasuries in the primaries which allows McCain to spend more in te general election. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators Bravus Posted March 5, 2008 Author Moderators Posted March 5, 2008 Agreed - which is why I'm hoping for a decisive result out of yesterday's primaries. Quote Truth is important
fccool Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 If he wins... I'm moving to Australia . On the other hand, if he does not I will probably be moving there too. Seems like a nice place to live. My fiance is in love with it now since I can't stop talking about moving there. Quote
Woody Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Now that Obama has joined the negative attacks of Billary ... it is McCain that can stand above the fray and be the statesman. I love it. Let those Demos duke it out. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Bravus Posted March 7, 2008 Author Moderators Posted March 7, 2008 Pretty much the opposite conclusion is drawn here: http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2008/03/06/democratic_primaries/index_np.html (may have to view an ad to read more than the first 2 paras) Quote Truth is important
Dr. Shane Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 It is not a good thing for the Democratic Party. The idea they will get more free press coverage than McCain really is trying to make lemonaid out of a bunch of lemons. Obama is expected an additional $10 million in Pennsylvania contest against Hillary that he would have otherwise been spending against McCain. This "downtime" for McCain that Salon.com is trying to spin as something bad will give McCain time to travel about raising money for his fall campaign with very little attacks coming from the Democrats. That is why he went to the White House. He didn't go there because Bush's endorsement was going to give him a boost in the polls. Bush is a record fund raiser and McCain needs money and now it looks like he will be free to raise it without having to defend himself from attack ads while Hillary and Obama go after each other. The famous 3:00 am phone call ad that Hillary used to attack Obama. Who does that help? Who is most qualified to answer the phone at 3:00 am after America has been attacked? Polls overwhelmingly say McCain is most qualified to handle national security. Today Obama's foreign relations' adviser admitted in an interview that neither Hillary or Obama have the experience needed to answer the 3:00 am phone call. McCain has to be loving this. It doesn't cost him a cent but gives him time to raise lots of dollars. Now if Obama wins the popular vote and has the most delegates going into the convention - as it looks like he most certainly will - is the Democratic Party going to refuse to nominate the first black candidate to run for President? If they do, what percentage of the black vote will be cast for McCain in the Fall? Bush won 14% of the black vote. If Hillary steals the nomination from Obama I suspect McCain will get close to 40% of the black vote or most blacks will not vote at all - and that will make it extremely difficult for Hillary to win.
