Dr. Shane Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Well I am a saint on earth so I can feel secure in knowing I will be a saint in heaven. Redwood, you've fallen into the Catholic misconception about "saints" - namely, that only a small elite group of super-holy people are worthy to be called "saints". The Biblical usage of the word makes it clear that: saint = any believer in Christ. aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? aldona Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Speaking of saints... I have been to some beautiful old Catholic churches and seen some wonderful stained glass art-work in the windows, depicting various saints (both biblical and post-biblical). Our church has just acquired a new church building, and the planning committee is working overtime coming up with good ideas on how it should be fitted out and decorated. The sanctuary has some nice big windows facing out into the street and I think it would look really tasteful if we put up some stained-glass windows depicting Adventist saints. (Complete with halo and other accessories as depicted in Catholic art). Examples: St. Ellen White (Our Lady of Eternal Responsibility) and St. James White St. William Miller St. Uriah Smith Sts. Jones & Waggoner St. John N. Andrews St. Steven Haskell and lots of other pioneers/ church fathers and mothers... (Well, if I couldn't persuade the church board to name the facility "Shrine of Our Lady of Eternal Responsibility", so this would be the next best thing...) aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? "If you would be any believer in Christ in heaven, you must first be any believer in Christ on earth." ??? OR .... was EGW using the Catholic use of the term? Dr. Shane Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Miller was an Adventist, just not a Seventh-day Adventist. We have beautiful stain glass windows in our church we just put in about five years ago. Each one has a theme of one of the fruits of the Spirit with a "saint" in it depicting that specific fruit. Only Bible saints though. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Kinda a duh/obvious statement don't ya think? I wonder what she was trying to say? Well, I will take a stab at it. Perhaps she was talking about your character. That you can't live your life down here, where people don't want to be around you 'cause you are not very nice, and then once you *get* to heaven have a character makeover. I am sure you have met people like this, I know I have, supposed "Christians" but they are the most hateful people. Anyways, I think maybe she was saying that your character needs to be such that it would be the same here as in Heaven. You are going to love your neighbors up there and you love your neighbors here--type thing. Well, this was my shot in the dark. Anyone else? fccool Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 To answer your question streight from the Bible: 1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours. Pretty simple, wouldn't you say so? What do we call the process? The Sanctification? . Now, I'm not sure about if one is more saint than others are. I'm sure there are levels of spiritual maturity.
