"Green" as in "environmentally responsible" is not a word I would normally associate with a Bandit 1200. However "incredibly jealous" is very applicable to me in this instance. I would in fact be very happy with a Bandit 600 but the 1200 would be very acceptable. Enjoy yourself, Dave - just keep a sharp eye out for the constabulary! As for 'environmentally responsible', it's a relative thing. With a steady whip-hand the big bandit will get 40 mpg, which is considerably better than even my frugal Nissan Tiida sedan. Sure, I guess I *could* ride a postie bike (CT110) and run it on the smell of an oily rag... But here's how I described the Bandit to some friends: "Roll on absolutely anywhere, even 2k in top, and the urge is just there. Planey Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 My last bike was a Honda CBR600F. After I wrote it off (at 60 km/h - and not my fault -honestly!) I used the insurance payout towards getting a Hilux utility. However I still lust after a bike... I would get something different to a pure sports bike like the 600, though. The low bars with the accompanying crouched riding position gave me back, shoulder and wrist pain. (Interesting note: I found that riding above 140 km/h eased these problems considerably as the wind pressure lifted me up so to balance the gravitational downwards pressure.) So I think your Bandit would be absolutely ideal, with its slightly higher bars, but still having exhilarating performance. The more civilised riding position makes it more comfortable in city riding, too. The 1200 would absolutely eat up long distances as well. Fantastic acquisition, Dave. When I think of the fabulous feeling of diving into a corner, wrapping open the throttle some more, feeling the bike settle down and having the tyres bite in and powering out towards the next bend where it will all happen again... Getting into a flow with the bike and the road.. Sensual pleasures beyond belief... Now all I've got to do is convince my wife - not an easy job I'm afraid. Oh well. It'd be perfect for you. The CBR6s are very nice bikes indeed, and similarly quick-but-sensible-seated. We ended up getting the 1200 just because I like to pillion Suzie around quite a bit, including to work, and there's about 200 kg (440 lbs for our American friends, but it sounds much worse that way!) of us combined. The 600 would have been working hard, but the 12 barely even notices. Have to admit that there *was* a certain amount of wearing away the wife like water dripping on rock... But it only cost $4700 with 46,000 km on it and in the immaculate condition the photos show, so not all *that* extravagant... Quote Truth is important
