LifeHiscost Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I hope there is a difference between "answering a post" and "nitpicking, criticising, ear-bashing and finding fault"! If not, then CA is in trouble, and so are our churches. "nitpicking, criticising, ear-bashing and finding fault"! would be found to number any answering post in disagreement or adding to or saying ought but yea yea to preceding input? The ideal: " Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ" Ephesians 4:13 KJV The underlined does seem to indicate that hasn't occurred yet, however I would suggest turmoil is largely predicated on the fact that change only happens in the lives of any or all, at least to this point of time, by agitating the differences in viewpoint. As someone once said, "And she pleaded, "Let us not agitate questions that will reveal a marked difference of opinion, but rather let us bring from the Word the sacred truths regarding the binding claims of the law of God." --Ibid. {6BIO 259.3} " Regards! LifeHiscost Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Sometimes I babble, this is one of those times... Not necessarily so. You underate your testimony, Stan. "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." Revelation 12:11 KJV Maybe the reason why so many of us find so little to praise the Lord is because we lack the underlined. Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Still, we have people here who just can't see past the petty rules they were raised with that were used as excuses to try to hang each other. Eh, whatever. I'm coming to the conclusion that I shouldn't let that bother me. If someone wants to hang me on the rope of their own theology, and if others agree with them, well, then ok. Because there will always be others who -don't- agree with that same theology. "Love Won Another " I couldn't agree more. "Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God." 1 Corinthians 4:5 NASB Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Perhaps our attitude should be “If it is to be, it’s up to me.” I've heard, "It only takes a spark, to keep a fire burning." Is it kosher to say many of us expect others to carry that spark. Oops! There's that bucket of water on the bonfire. Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Administrators Naomi Posted April 9, 2008 Administrators Posted April 9, 2008 Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Woody Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Someday, I think maybe I'll just tell me kids, "Kids, there's someone you can't see. His name is Jesus. I'll let Him fill you in on the details later. Let's go get some ice cream." Somehow, that just seems more "to the point" and a lot less burdensome than all the ins and outs of trying to be a good Adventist, a good Christian, or a good anything at all. People are just people, and I can't help thinking that we'll never truly be happy until we just learn to treat people with value and stop worrying about so much of this stuff. Sometimes, if it's extreme behavior coming from them, it's necessary to extremely correct them. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to walk into any situation, just be yourself, and know that people aren't going to look for petty excuses to come down on you? Maybe I'm just dreaming, but maybe not. We've worked hard, here at ClubAdventist, to create such a place. Still, we have people here who just can't see past the petty rules they were raised with that were used as excuses to try to hang each other. Eh, whatever. I'm coming to the conclusion that I shouldn't let that bother me. If someone wants to hang me on the rope of their own theology, and if others agree with them, well, then ok. Because there will always be others who -don't- agree with that same theology. In any case, one person policing another won't ever change anyone at all. However, as RW so eloquently puts it, "Love Won Another " I couldn't agree more. WELL Said ... WELL said. I could not agree more. Thanks for this post. LifeHiscost Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Good point ... so, what do we do??? Well, in my case I noticed many years ago a lack of compassion on my part, for those who didn't measure up to my expectations. So I asked our Father for a softer heart. While it didn't happen overnight, I can say that in a measurable period of time, something began to happen inside of me that allowed me to see things from their perspective. I didn't necessarily agree any more than usual with others, IOW my own understanding of Scripture didn't change that much, but I came to realize God didn't ask me to change people, only to give the Word as I knew it and share His love for them as I am able. We often think there is something spectacular that is suppose to happen if we've done the right thing by people. However I'm of the opinion most of the ordinary people will influence in their sphere of activity, for Jesus only as they are willing to tell others what Jesus means to them and what He's done for them. "Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him." Luke 8:38-40 NKJV This, of course, does not preclude people who in these special times feel the power of the Spirit moving on their heart, to move out in ways that might not meet up with the approval of our brothers and sisters. Only we and our Father can truly determine how far God wishes us to act on His behalf. We can be sure if we are called out for a special purpose, these signs will follow us. "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. " Gal 5:22-25 NLT Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
