Moderators Bravus Posted April 9, 2008 Moderators Posted April 9, 2008 I know you said Stan said political posts should be posted here if there was to be 'banter', Redwood, but I'm not sure it works as well as it could, since political posts tend to end up in a certain amount of partisan wrangling (and banter for that matter) no matter where they are. It's up to the mods and admins to clarify what they want. I'd vote for political posts, both heavy and light, being directed to the Politics forum. Quote Truth is important
Woody Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 It is up to them. I am just doing what I was told. I want my threads to be free to have banter if they go that way. And I was told if the thread allowed banter ... then it needed to be at TownHall. But if they choose to move it they will. And the rules around here have been changing every day so who knows. Moderators lazarus Posted April 9, 2008 Moderators Posted April 9, 2008 Oops, didn't see this new thread here. I just bought up the same point on your new thread Redwood. Its "no skin off my nose" if folks want to start putting "politricks" stuff here but then let shut to the politic forum. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Dr. Shane Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Whatever happened to the moderator of Townhall anyway? Some people are really turned off by politics. I believe Townhall is our most frequented forum here. I think it only wise to keep politics out of it. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
fccool Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 This is true.. but do we really need to make a separate thread about it ? Quite lengthy one too! Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted April 14, 2008 Author Moderators Posted April 14, 2008 Same question, nearly a week later. Is Town Hall really the place for party political broadcasts bashing Obama? Quote Truth is important
Woody Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Seems like a good place to me and others .... especially considering I was asked to put them here. But by all means feel free to put your posts where ever you want to. I won't criticize you. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Moderators Bravus Posted April 15, 2008 Author Moderators Posted April 15, 2008 Heh, honestly not criticizing, my friend, just asking for a policy ruling. If the Powers That Be decide this is the way we're doing it from now on, I'm 100% happy with that. I do think it's redundant and potentially unhealthy for Town Hall (and probably the Politics forum too) to have political posts both here and in the Politics forum, but I'm just one-a the chickens... Moderators Bravus Posted April 15, 2008 Author Moderators Posted April 15, 2008 ...plus I'm not sure 'bitter' and 'Fox News says Obama may be asked to leave the race' really count as 'bantering', humorous posts... Quote Truth is important
Stan Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 They should not be here,... perhaps I am guilty as well... I have been so busy with other issues, including software.. that I have no been following a lot of threads... Stan Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 hmmmm Global Moderators should be able to move those... Woody Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 ...plus I'm not sure 'bitter' and 'Fox News says Obama may be asked to leave the race' really count as 'bantering', humorous posts... That's not the point. IT could turn to bantering at any time. Thus being here allows for that possibility. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Moderators Bravus Posted April 15, 2008 Author Moderators Posted April 15, 2008 OK, given the words from on high in the couple of posts above, I'm gonna move all political posts to the Politics forum... and state that at least until I'm countermanded, banter is fine in the Politics forum. Hope this works for everyone, and I'm leaving this thread and this post in Town Hall to explain what's happened. Complaints here or by PM, thanks so much. Quote Truth is important

Planey Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 ...plus I'm not sure 'bitter' and 'Fox News says Obama may be asked to leave the race' really count as 'bantering', humorous posts... On the other hand, Bravus, anything that is headed "Fox News says" could surely not be regarded as a serious post!! Moderators Bravus Posted April 15, 2008 Author Moderators Posted April 15, 2008 Cute story - a Dutch online friend of mine joined in on 'talk like a pirate day'. He's a 'house-husband' with two adorable little blonde kids, and apparently the little boy's Dutch-English version of 'scurvy dog' was 'skeffy dok'. So our dog at home now tends to get called a 'skeffy dok' about half the time. Quote Truth is important
