Maria Lauterbach, the murdered pregnant marine, was a Reformed Seventh day Adventist, according to several blogs etc.

Even though they are a 'cousins' it seems like they are pretty distant.

Dazed and tearful, a fugitive Marine wanted in connection with the murder of a pregnant fellow Marine who had accused him of rape is in custody today in western Mexico, ending a three-month international manhunt.

Cpl. Cesar Laurean is charged with the murder of a pregnant Marine.

A senior law enforcement official told ABC News that Mexican authorities arrested 21-year-old Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean Thursday evening in a town in the Mexican state of Michoacan, after he was spotted on the street.

Mexican police on an anti-kidnapping operation reportedly spotted Laurean wandering the street and became suspicious when they realized he didn't speak Spanish very well. He was taken into custody and later identified in part by his extensive tattoos, The Associated Press reported.

"He was walking down the street. He did not resist," said FBI spokeswoman Amy Thoreson. "We had FBI agents, NCIS [Naval Criminal Investigative Service] agents as well as the Mexican authorities [there] at the time."

Laurean has been on the lam since January, after investigators say they found the charred remains of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach and her unborn baby buried in Laurean's backyard. Lauterbach, who was eight months pregnant, disappeared in December 2007. The discovery of her remains prompted authorities to file murder charges against Laurean.

Laurean had been Lauterbach's senior officer at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina until she accused him of raping her. The Marines have said Laurean was never taken into custody because he had denied the charge and there was no evidence to support the accusation.

They believe basically the same teachings that SDAs believe. They put greater stress than SDAs do on health reform, vegetarianism, and belief in the writings of Ellen White.

The organization had its beginning as a result of WWI when SDAs in Europe were disfellowshipped for refusing to fight in the war. Men were told that they should fight in their nation's military. A lot of SDAs did that, but many refused. A big mistake was made. Quite a few SDAs were put in prison and some even killed. Many of those later freed were disfellowshipped for not following the directions of the church leaders at that time.

She must not be in very good standing with her church because the Reformed Movement does not believe in serving in the military service as combatants.

I believe that dress reform is also part of their lifestyle. Long dresses for the women and guys wearing suspenders etc. They also tend to live out some distance from mainstream.

Some people (from the outside AKA Adventist mainstream) can fit right in and others can not.

It is possible that Maria was in 'rebellion' with the guidelines or even possibly shunned after the pregnancy was known. By the way, even a person with their nose to the line can end up pregant, as in-- not by choice, and would feel it a sin to have an abortion.

It has always bothered me when vendors split up the total cost of a program/product that they are selling...For example, airlines, at least some of them, are charging for extra baggage, in addition to the ticket.

So, Stan, what are you gonna charge in addition to the 9.5% to make up the .5% difference in tithe?

The allegation was that she was murdered after she accused him of rape. Doesn't sound like the pregnancy was a result of "rebellion" to me - not on her part, anyway.

The SDA Reform Movement: Actually in the U.S. there are two groups that are SDA Reform. Both date back to a common beginning in the early 1900s. The two groups seperated in the 1930s.

One of the groups has a local Conference office in Denver.

As far as their doctrinal beliefs, they are much more strict than is the SDA Chruch.

As far as their origion in Germany:

1) They are rooted in sin on both sides. e.g. The official leaders of the SDA Chruch and the leaders of what began the SDA Reform movement were both in the wrong.

2) The SDA leaders in Germany were wrong in their support of Hitler.

3) The leaders in what became the SDA Reform movement were wrong is their use of stolen SDA letterhead to send a letter to the German government that was a factor in what I referenced in # 2.

4) The extent of the SDA suport of Hitler and his goals is only beginning to be understood in recent yearss (probably the past 10 years). The SDA leadership was clearly wrong.

To bring this into perspective, I remind you of Rewanda. A SDA Conference President was tried by the United Nations, convicted and served time for genocide. He died shortly after his release from prison. We have a history of imperfect leaders.

5) Following the end of WW II the General Conference attempted to heal the breach between the SDA Reform Movement and the SDA Chruch. That failed.

6) It should be noted that in a prior post reference was made to events around WW I while I have clearly referenced WW II. In my reconstruction of the history of the SDA Reform Movement I give more inportance to WW II and Hitler than I do WW I. It should be noted that their beginning was clearly associated with WW I and prior to Hitler and WW II.

7) My references to this group are not to a third group that began with the efforts of Margaret Rowen, about 1916, in the United States. Nothing that I have said above applies to this group.

8) The WW I beginning of this group is clearly associated with the principle on non-combatancy. It is this history why in Germany today the German churches will typically remove from membership people who serve in the military.

I recall a German Army officer who was sent to the U. S. to take training at the Naval Post-Graduate School in California. He was married to a SDA woman. He attended church on Sabbath and was astounded to learn that I was not only an Army officer (Chaplain) but SDA Clergy. As he told me, he could not join the SDA Chruch in Germany while he remained an Army officer.

9) There are other dates prior to WW II that are important to the history of the SDA Reform Movement.

John Wieck taught that probation would close in 1915.

Attempts were made to heal the breach in 1919 in a meeting held in Swlitzerland. The General Conference generally sided with the Reformed people and the German SDA leadership apologized for their error.

This began to break down in 1923 when the European Division of the SDA Church issued a Declaration of Principles that recommended non-combatancy but neither required it nor required that SDA not serve in any manner in the military.

It is because of these events in 1923 that I give historical priority to the events of WW II rather than WW I. It is out of this event which actually began in 1923 that the SDA Reforned Movement that exists in the U.S. today began, in my thinking. That is why I have concentrated in Hitler and WW II in my earlier comments.

Which group of reformed SDA was John Wieck involved with? Wasn't he connected with the same group as Margaret Rowen? What is the official name of the group associated with Margaret Rowen and John Wieck?
