Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.

Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense. And

choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable. .

>OOOH I like that! I simply have NEVER understood prejudice. I am honored to have friends of many races and I would not care if my children married a person from any race. There are issues FAR more important than skin color when choosing a mate, fact is I have no idea what skin color has to do with it, IMHO.

My chief objection to racial intermarriage is: You don't give the same break to the children born to this union that you expect for yourselves. Two adults (?) starry eyed and bushy-tailed are ready to take on the world and prove that race is no barrier to their love. However...they do not give the same break to their children who will not be accepted by either race and will have to face prejudice all their lives. Throw rocks at me for saying so but that just happens to be the way that it is presently. I didn't say that I liked the status quo nor accept it as such.

The effect on the children should definitely be considered. The bigotry a child might experience is more true in some areas than in others, for many communities exist where interracial combinations are hardly noted more than wondering whether a child got his nose or his hair from his mother or his father. Many parts of California are quite tolerant and embracing of interracial and multicultural unions.
