You'd think that Jesus was trying to tell us to be our excellent selves.... "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." 1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV I'm assuming you include the apostle Paul in your conclusion. What would be the terminology if the perfection is less than excellent? Would it still be excellent if it were flawed (imperfect). The perfect being less than excellent, still perfect? :smile: Also I would like to suggest being godlike or having the characteristic of godliness does not implicitly refer to perfection.
