Dr. Shane Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 We filled up in Mexico yesterday. It cost $2.86/gallon ($1.32/liter). I added a bottle of STP gas treatment since Mexican gas isn't the best quality. Moderators John317 Posted May 5, 2008 Moderators Posted May 5, 2008 Yeah I used to do that here in Tijuana years ago. You have to be careful of the gas there, as you evidently realize. It can do damage to your engine if you use it a lot. How long do you have to sit at the border going either way? Here it is common to wait at the border for 3 hours going either way. Only a few years ago, you could walk back across in minutes. Now there are lines 2 hours long, and even longer if you're driving. I have in-laws who make that trip 5 days a week. The town we do missionary work in is also a tourist town so during the busiest tourist season the wait can be up to 90 minutes but even then, if one waits to come back until after 9:00 pm it is normally no more than 30 minutes. Taylor Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I do know that in some countries where I have driven, it seems they have added something to the gasoline to "stretch it" becuase the car runs very rough and it isn't anything mechanical with it. It's as if the gas has water in it or something. Quote
