nuff sed Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Perhaps Denise is to be given some slack, as probably she along with many others, have never heard an accent on the net, short of a video. Regards! Quote
jasd Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 >>I live in the South and that accent isn't it.<< Florida, right? I thought that was more - Cuba North and New York South - than, let's say, Appalachia (less PA and NY) - and/or other points South :-) QR frame: Lawd. Lord. Is this the sort of thing that generated the occasion of ‘nit-picking/brouhaha wars’ of recent memory? I remember receiving grief for my representing Elohiym with the consonants Gd. (mo’ bettah ah shoulda used YWHW? Sheesh) Quote
cricket Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Gd shows respect for the Lord. "Lawd" just shows ignorance. Quote

jasd Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 >>Gd shows respect for the Lord. "Lawd" just shows ignorance.<< I can accept your appraisal and respect the measure of that position. That notwithstanding, it sometimes behooves us to allow for another's endeavour to phonetically represent his or her 'persona' (not unBiblical, is it?) -- without disparagement; otherwise, we simply indulge in parochialism. LifeHiscost Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I live in the South and that accent isn't it. You and I both know what it is and "was". I know of at least one comment by a Christian author that says, "Christians should be as transparent as glass", or words to that effect. I'm thinking whatever you, Gladussee, have in mind, if it cannot be spoken plainly for all to see, it would be better if it were washed away by Jesus' blood. "....let God become true, and every man false, according as it hath been written, `That Thou mayest be declared righteous in Thy words, and mayest overcome in Thy being judged.'" Romans 3:4 YLT Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
