Hood June 6th, 2008 http://www.kgw.com/video/video-index.html?nvid=252539&shu=1 Mountains coated with snow as Portland sets record cold temp Friday, June 6, 2008 By kgw.com and AP Staff Unusually cold temperatures for Oregon and Southwest Washington this time of year brought fresh snow to the Cascades on Friday and a record cold temperature to Portland on Friday. Thick snow fell in the Oregon Cascades Friday and a snow warning was in effect until 10 p.m. “It’s just incredible what we’re seeing up there,” said KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino. He added that the fresh snow is a recipe for avalanches, so climbers should be very careful over the weekend. Though snow does sometimes fall in the Cascades even as late as August, June snow is rare. Meanwhile in Portland, Friday had a record low temperature of 56 degrees, which beat the previous record low for June 6th -- 57 degrees -- set in 1999, Zaffino said. "It's one of the coolest June 6ths we’ve ever had here in the Rose City," he said. Neil D Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Good heavens and here it was pushing 90...wow! Tell you what....you send 10 degrees our way, and that will make your area 80....We jump up to 70 or 80 and it will result in a much more tolerable temp to live with in both areas.... deal?
