Stan Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Well, the next generation iPhone was announced today, it has GPS and a bunch of other toys, and the price is only $199.00 worldwide. Apple is going to capture the smart phone market.. Blackberry users, will probably not switch. AND they will be in Aussieland, Canada, US on Juy 11th. nishaun Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 The funny thing about the iphone is it will actually cost more than the first generation over the course of the two year contract. Because the monthly plan is higher. Quote
Guest gem Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Hmmm, interesting...maybe it's one way to get the consumers. Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted June 16, 2008 Moderators Posted June 16, 2008 $200 is much saner than $500, and *of course* I covet these sweet, sweet toys, but at the same time I'm loathe to lock into a long and expensive contract when I barely use a cellphone as it is. I suspect I'll be able to keep my gearlust gland in check on this one... Quote Truth is important
Moderators Gerr Posted June 16, 2008 Moderators Posted June 16, 2008 Can it also be used like a PDA? With a memory card for other things also? Gerry Quote
nishaun Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 The iphone has a built in harddrive but no expandable memory. Other than that, yes it is a smartphone and can be used that way, it can hook up to your computer, it also surfs the internet. Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted June 16, 2008 Moderators Posted June 16, 2008 Until Mr. Jobs adds an expandable memory, I'll pass and continue to carry my PDA along with my cellphone. My car already has a GPS. Thanks. Gerry Quote

Kountzer Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 A couple of the younger workers at work have the old iphones. They are very versatile. the BB curve is good enough for me though. If i want to get on the 'net I have a laptop. I have 2 or 3 bibles and several eg white/sop books on the curve. I also have an outdated pocket pc that I don't know what to do with. I love the convenience of having several books in a device that fits in the palm of my hand. And the device takes cell phone calls, and logs contacts also? That's what the bb curve does that I like. I'd probably fall in luv with the new I phone if I bought one. I don't feel like breaking the bank to find out.
