Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Looks to me like they are sinking to the same low as those they are accusing others of sinking to. It is just politics as usual. Nothing new. You smear me so I smear you. Mud slinging. Dirty politics. Negative campaigning.

I was hoping with McCain's attitude toward running a clean campaign this season might be different. So much for that. I hope this "Fight the Smears" group has no relationship with the official Obama campaign. If it does, Obama is starting off on the wrong foot.

DU? What's that? Democratic Underground? That sight has been taken over by conservative republicans..

I traced your jpg file to this site.....and this is what they say about themselves...

HillBuzz

HillBuzz is run and maintained by people the media swears should all be guzzling Kool-Aid. We’re mostly over-educated, 30-something, urban, white, gay men living in Chicago, but with roots in Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Kentucky, Oregon, and upstate New York. So, we know a thing or two about swing-states, and a lot about SoetorObama because we’ve been active in the political scene here in Chicago for years, and have seen what SoetorObama and his lovely wife are like up close and personal. They’re in this only for themselves, people, the same way SoetorObama’s always been in it for himself in everything he’s ever done. What he did in the 90s to Alice Palmer to snag his first elected office is the clearest portrait of him that can ever be drawn — it’s the same sort of Chicago politics we saw in action in Iowa, Texas, Colorado, Indiana, and other places we personally witnessed voter fraud and intimidation in the Democrat’s primaries. So, we were always immune to the Kool-Aid, and to the media’s infatuation with someone we know to be a fraud, but we all became doubly committed to this resistance within the Democratic Party when we saw how deliberately and shamelessly the Democrats sacrificed everything they supposedly believed in at the altar of SoetorObama the Messiah. We’re not shutting up, sitting down, or standing still in the face of this lunacy. Lifelong Democrats all, we wake up every morning to do whatever we can to get the word out that the Democratic Party is democratic in name only at this point. The takeover of the party and its deliberate rebranding began in 2004, shortly after John Kerry’s loss. Hillary Clinton never stood a chance of winning the nomination, as Howard Dean and Donna Brazile engineered the Obamafication of the party years ago. We don’t even believe the intent in all of this is to win the White House: this, in our opinion, was always about winning more seats in Congress to score a super-majority, and that’s what the Obamafication was always about: not winning states in the electoral college, but winning new Congressional seats in areas surrounding college towns and high black populations. With a Democrat in the White House, it would be a safe bet the party would lose Congress in 2010, as the nation realigns itself to balance those powers. Controlling Congressional spending with Pelosi at the helm was the goal all along, in our view. Hillary Clinton got in the way of all that, so the party tied her hands and wouldn’t allow her to effectively smack back against SoetorObama — and the party also stood silent and allowed SoetorObama and his media propaganda machine to slam Clinton with every sexist, misogynistic, vulgar attack they could conjure. And yet, Clinton battled on, as the champ she is, cementing the love and respect we’ve always had for her. The Democrats have the nominee they wanted, after trying to force Clinton from the race for the last 6 months, but only succeeding with a rigged Convention that deprived her of an actual, honest roll call vote that she deserved. SoetorObama is a sham of a nominee who will lose the general election to John McCain — with any and all help we can give McCain. In all honesty, we’re really working on the 2012 campaign at this point, in what will either be a Clinton-McCain or a Clinton-Palin matchup. On November 5th, we also begin immediate work on permanently removing Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Bill Richardson, Claire McCaskill, Caroline and Ted Kennedy, John Edwards and the rest of the SoetorObama junta from the Democratic Party, replacing them all with centrists who have the best interests of the traditional New Deal Coalition at heart. After November 5th, the Democrats will be 100% Kool-Aid free, and will have just 4 years to regroup, around Hillary Clinton, to win back the White House (that should have been won back in 2008, if Clinton was our nominee, as she should be). Caucuses should and will be eliminated and regional primaries should be the way to proceed with the party’s nomination in 2012. Iowa and New Hampshire must lose their special status, since a nominating contest that produced three losers in a row for Democrats is broken from top to bottom, especially in terms of those easily rigged caucuses. There’s going to be a lot of hand-wringing on November 5th, and an awful lot of blame to go around, but we maintain this blog every day so Dean, Brazile, Pelosi, Reid and the rest can never say they couldn’t have seen defeat coming — we tell them every day what’s going to happen, but they choose not to listen to any of it. It really is almost as if they want to lose the presidency after all, like that was the plan the whole time. And, for that alone, we will give everything we’ve got to see those fools go down with SoetorObama after November.

Some very disaffected democrates who love Hillary a little too much...

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

In any case, I believe you will agree with me that such ads are wrong and have no legitimate place in the campaign.

In the same way, I would agree with you that people have no business printing things they know to be lies about Obama.

Here's a bit more.

It seems Newsbusters got hold of it. Newsbusters, I guess is the right's equivalent to Media Matters. What's that quote again about imitation.....?

Nice misdirection of the thread, Republidroids.

Personally I do not find such language offense, but I would hate to see people on the Forum start throwing mud and names at everyone associated or identified with either party. There are lies told on both sides and each side has its share of misdeeds and various abuses.

Most Republicans are good people who love their country, and I believe we can say the same about Democrats.

True - and I should probably take it down. But I'm seeing the same behaviour again and again and again and again and again by the Republicans here: misdirect every thread to where you want it rather than follow up on the actual discussion started. And that would be behaviour we would expect from a robot, hence the coining of the term.

But maybe I should just abandon the forum to that approach, since it's getting me annoyed and I don't have the energy to fight it any more.

Honestly I would encourage you to talk about that issue if you feel or think that is happening. Point out those things-- maybe you have already-- maybe you are talking about something I have done. That is OK.

General post:

I know I've been posting a lot of quotes today, but here is the one I was actually looking for:

“Men who are engaged in public life must necessarily aim at reducing opposition to a minimum, and one of the most obvious means to that end is by misrepresenting, discrediting, or ruining their opponents.”
