Why do we as a church fight for religious liberty???

Seems somewhat counterproductive to fight for religious freedom and separation of church and state when that will only bring about the time of the end sooner? No? The end time events will only happen when God allows. So what are we as Adventists doing by trying to extend, delay or in someway control our own destinies with organizations like, Religious Liberty Association?

We feel that religious liberty is a human right. We feel it is our responsibility to help promote and protect human rights, including freedom of conscience. It would be quite arrogant to think we have any control over God's actions. But we feel God would have us work toward protecting human rights and freedoms until He comes back.

Seems like the alternative is to go back to the rack and the staked bonfire.

We have yet to see how we will behave when that time comes.

As to why God would extend the time under freedom,

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 KJV

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15 KJV

Our Father has given us the privilege of sharing the fruits of persuading those of His children who will at last yield to the gospel when given the freedom without fear, to accept His generous invitation.

"In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2 NASB

"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." Revelation 18:4 KJV
