About a year and a half ago .... Shane started a post and poll about how many remotes we have in our homes. I was proudly on top with over 10.

Technology has progressed and the budget now allowed for a Universal Remote to do away with all of mine and transform them into the one.

Anyway .... I bought one of the cheaper ones. Best Buy arranged for the Geek Squad to come out and install it for me. I won't tell you how much they charged but it was way too much. They spent about 4 hours installing it. Trouble was they had a difficult time and were not able to do all I needed on this cheap remote. At Best Buy they had assured me it could do it all. So, I went to Best Buy and complained.

Due to my skillful complaint ... they agreed to upgrade my purchase to the best quality remote they had ($350.00). And they would install it for free. Well they came out and three hours later ... I now have a Universal Remote for my TV and components.

If your addition skills are superior ... you will notice that they spent a total of 7 hours to install my Universal Remote. If I told you the charges for the labor in addition to the $350 remote ... you would go through the ceiling.

The Lord must have been speakin to me tonight. We were reading about missionaries who were working with people who lived in a place that was 10 feet by 10 feet. They longed for fresh fruit. Made me think of that remote for my wide screen TV and all my other toys.

When are we going to give all to the poor? The Lord was speakin to me tonight. Will I do anything about it???

Just a minute ... I have to use my remote to switch channels from Hope to 3ABN . Yes, that is my excuse that I needed. I have to be able to switch between Hope and 3ABN. Good Work. Good Justification.

The poor you will have with you always.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Good post Redwood. I have also been thinking of that same thing. Makes you wonder sometimes about our priorities.

We could get rid of our TV's. In the late 50's a skinny preacher from Pennsylvania sold his TV and replaced the time he was wasting with an evening devotional. This decision led to the story "The Cross & the Switchblade."
