There was somebody who called him a 'good' master, after which Jesus asked i think rhetorically, "why do you call me good?". Personally i think that maybe Jesus wanted to reveal to him that he was God because the man who called him the good master maybe didn t believe he was God... Quote

Was he only trying to flatter him? Or in calling Him "good master" was he in fact telling him that while he considered Him a good teacher, he didn't believe He was anything more than that? Robert Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I think i should clarify this question. Why did Jesus mind that a person was calling him good?, for Jesus is God... "16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God" You see Christ is God. He has always been God, but at the incarnation God the Father mysteriously combined Christ's Deity with our fallen humanity that needed redeeming. Hence, Jesus wasn't addressing His Deity...He was addressing the humanity that He had assumed at the incarnation. Quote
