So it is legit) that he wanted to cut off a sensitive anatomy part on Obama. Sounds like Obama has some serious relationship problems in his own camp. Jesse Jackson apologized Wednesday for "crude and hurtful" remarks he made about Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama after finishing an interview with a Fox News correspondent. The remarks came Sunday as Jackson was talking to a fellow interviewee in a studio. An open microphone picked up Jackson whispering, "Barack, he's talking down to black people." Jackson, recalling the incident Wednesday on CNN's "Situation Room," said he followed that comment with a crude remark. "It was very private" he said, adding later that if "any hurt or harm has been caused to his campaign, I apologize." An Obama campaign spokesman, Bill Burton, said in a statement that the senator from Illinois "of course accepts Reverend Jackson's apology." Jackson's son, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois -- co-chair of Obama's presidential campaign -- publicly blasted his father's comments Wednesday. "I'm deeply outraged and disappointed in Reverend Jackson's reckless statements about Sen. Barack Obama," the younger Jackson said in a statement. "His divisive and demeaning comments about the presumptive Democratic nominee -- and I believe the next president of the United States -- contradict his inspiring and courageous career." Jackson Jr. added that he'll "always love" his father. Jackson does not know there are live microphones and a camera rolling and he says some disgusting things about Obama. He indicated that Obama talks down to black folk, and Jackson wishes he could "cut his n**s off". Whether a camera is rolling or not what on earth possessed Jackson to say those things . . . for which he is now apologetic. He says, "this is not my best hour . . ." I think more highly of Obama's big-mouth friend Reverend Wright than I do of Jesse Jackson (and I supported Jackson's '88 run for President) Jackson lost all credibility with me when we discovered he had a love-child from an adulterous affair which was taking place while he was advising President Clinton spiritually during the Monica scandal! What kind of major hypocrite is that?! How can he provide spiritual guidance to a man seeking redemption from adultery when he himself is carrying on an adulterous affair? Obama, on the other hand, does come off as an elite. Jackson's observation is the elephant in the room that all the Republicans are talking about. I think that is who Obama is. It is one of his short comings. I worked for a guy that viewed himself as an elite. Who has he united up to this point in his career? Not much to go on as far as that is concerned, is there? I already hear talk from some blacks about Obama's not really being black enough. And of course this is at the heart of Jackson's remarks. But you are right about the fact that this could end up helping Obama get votes from some whites who might have had some question whether Obama was like Jackson or Sharpton. Now they know that Jackson at least sees Obama as different from himself in that sense. And of course I agree that he is different. I considered voting for Jackson in 1988 but decided against it because I did not believe that Jackson would be a national president. He never quite made it above being the "black candidate." Obama definitely has. I have no doubt that if Obama wins, he will be every American's president. But even if Obama ends up losing the election, no one can ever say again (with a straight face) that white Americans would never elect a black to be president. The posters question was, why is Obama running as a black man instead of a multi-ethnic American? Personally I think humans tend to force each other to pick a group and stick to it. My question is, what is "black" enough? How does one know when a persons "blackness" is enough or too much even?
