Neil D Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 it is like comparing a 2 meg picture vs and 8 meg... Are you talking about the 1080i or the 1080p? LCD or Plasma? With surround sound or without? Stan, you simply MUST be more specific here. ...and I thought you were the gadget king..... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. fccool Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 We still broadcast everything in SD. Most of the stations don't even have equipment to play out HD... they simply pass through satellite HD signal. So HD is not dead, it is not even half alive yet as there's still war of formats going on . FCC keeps moving the digital switchover deadlines. HD is expensive to produce and broadcast, not even mentioning 4k. To scan film at that resolution costs studios 100-200k per movie. As far as 4k TV... why? Yes, the movies are shot on film, which is 4k... but what else are you going to watch? + there is not storage medium outside of hard drives which will be fast enough to deliver 4k picture. Of course you can hook it up to your still camera to notice every wrinkle on your skin, but why? Quote
